The Rottle is a designer dog breed which is a cross between two purebred dogs, the Rottweiler and the Poodle (Miniature or Standard). The playful Rottle combines the affectionate Rottweiler with the intelligent Poodle.

Rottweiler x Poodle = Rottle

Owing to its parents the Rottles have combined intelligence of both their parents and thus they make watchdogs. They are great for guarding, agility, obedience, and tricks. This <g class="gr_ gr_66 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling" id="66" data-gr-id="66">mixed</g> breed is also called a Rottiepoo, Rottiedoodle, Rottweilerpoo <g class="gr_ gr_9 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="9" data-gr-id="9">and</g> Rottweilerdoodle.

History/Origin

The Rottle is the result of a growing trend toward Designer Dogs that surfaced back in the 1980s. Though not much is known about the history about the Rottles, both its parents the Rottweiler and the Poodle have <g class="gr_ gr_217 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="217" data-gr-id="217">gainied</g> immense popularity in the last 2-3 decades.

These pooches are a result of intentional mating between their parents to produce puppies that carry the desired traits of both parent breeds – typically a healthier, hypo-allergenic (at times), smaller, or gentler form of a popular breed.

Appearance

A Rottle is a medium-large sized dog breed and can be anywhere between 15 and 27 inches in height and between 60 and 130 pounds in weight. They have a sturdy built, rounded head, floppy ears, and dark oval-shaped eyes.

They have a black nose big enough to give them a superior sense of smell. This means that they can be trained to be excellent retrieving or scent dogs.

Their coat can be single and like a Rottweiler’s or double and like a Poodle’s which is more likely to be hypoallergenic. So it can be straight to curly, dense, soft hard and thick.

Colors include black, white, brown, silver, cream and gray or a combination of two or more.

Temperament/Behavior

The Rottweiler cross Poodle is an even-tempered dog who is calm, alert, and confident.

These dogs are very committed and loyal towards its family and are very protective towards them. This trait makes them excellent watchdogs as it warns its owners about any intruder by barking.

With the instincts of a working and hunting dog from its parent’s lineage, this breed demands plenty of outdoor activities to channelize their energies.

Their playful, affectionate and harmonious nature makes them a perfect companion for kids and adults. However, Rottweiler Standard Poodle mix should never be left alone with children until proper socialization training has been given as they may hurt small kids.

The Rottweiler Poodle mix does not typically enjoy being alone, but is not usually prone to separation anxiety.

Care – Exercise

The Rottle is a mix of two athletic breeds, and is a highly energetic dog who will need daily long walks or runs to keep him physically fit. A considerable active playtime during the day is recommended to ensure he is mentally stimulated.

Some of the favorite activities of Rottle include long walks, swimming, running, flyball and hiking.

These canines are prone to gain weight easily and thus regular exercise sessions during the day depending on the pooch’s size is a must.

Grooming

The Rottle is a low-shedding dog who may require a little extra attention during shedding season. Brushing its curly and thick coat with a pin brush and comb three to four times a week will keep its coat mat and tangle free.

Because floppy eared dogs can experience infections if not properly maintained, inspect and clean his ears weekly.

Brushing their teeth at least three times a week and their nails should be clipped when they get too long.

Bathe your pet occasionally f<g class="gr_ gr_11 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="11" data-gr-id="11">rom</g> time to time to prevent any infection and keep it clean and free from dirt.

Health Problems

The Rotti Poo is a medium dog who is relatively healthy and has an average lifespan between 9 and 12 years.

While designer dogs are typically bred specifically to be healthier than their pure-bred parents and have negligible genetic issues.

However, it’s important that you be aware of what your new pup could inherit from its breeder. Some common health issues which are prone to the Rottiepoos are:

Patellar Luxation

Hip And Elbow Dysplasia

Gastric Dilation Volvulus (GDV) or Bloating

Subaortic Stenosis Mitral Valve Dysplasia

Occasional v<g class="gr_ gr_45 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="45" data-gr-id="45">eteran</g> checkups and tests will help the dog to stay healthy.

Training

The Rottle comes from two intelligent parent breeds who are keen-to-please breeds which means he is quick to pick up commands and obedience training should come quite easily.

They are easy to train and proper socialization and obedience training will help your pet to establish a delightful nature.

Positive training methods like treats and praises from the owner will make the dog learn faster.

Feeding/Diet

The Rottle is a highly active and energetic dog that will require a nutrient-rich kibble designed specifically for his siz <g class="gr_ gr_27 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="27" data-gr-id="27">and</g> activity level.

4-5 cups of quality dog food made for the medium and energetic breed with homemade nutrient meals will be adequate for the dog.

Overfeeding might make them obese resulting in a lot of health problems. Therefore the owner should keep a check on the dog’s diet.

Rottle Puppies

The Rottle puppies are to be imparted socialization and obedience training to help them develop a pleasing personality.

As they are adept at picking up commands quickly, the owner should channelize this trait of theirs in a positive way especially while training them for housebreaking or anything else.
